To install the Shure MXN5-C Microflex Networked Ceiling Loudspeaker in a drop ceiling configuration, follow these steps:
1. Mark the cutout: Use the loudspeaker packaging or the tile bridge (not included) to mark a 10.5 inch (266 mm) hole in the drop ceiling tile.
2. Cut the hole: Use a utility knife or another tool to cut the marked hole in the drop ceiling tile.
3. Install the tile bridge: If you are using a tile bridge accessory, place it on top of the cutout in the drop ceiling tile.
4. Connect the Cat5e Ethernet cable: Attach the Cat5e cable to the loudspeaker. If conduit is required, run the Cat5e cable through the conduit and attach it to the loudspeaker.
5. Attach the cover plate: Use a screwdriver to attach the cover plate to the loudspeaker. If you are using conduit, push the conduit connector into the knockout on the cover plate.
6. Secure the loudspeaker: Attach the cable to the loudspeaker's secondary attachment point and to an attachment point in the drop ceiling. This cable provides additional mounting security.
7. Mount the loudspeaker: Place the loudspeaker in the mounting hole and tighten the screws on each side of the loudspeaker until each mounting arm fully expands to secure the loudspeaker. Do not over-tighten the screws.
8. Attach the grille safety restraint: Slide the grille safety restraint onto the post on the loudspeaker. Do not unscrew the xxxx to attach the restraint.
9. Attach the magnetic grille: Attach the magnetic grille to the loudspeaker. The Shure logo is also magnetic, so you can reposition or remove it if necessary.
10. Connect to power: The loudspeaker requires Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) or PoE to power it. Use a network switch or PoE+ injector device that provides PoE+ or PoE. The PoE/PoE+ source must also be a gigabit device.
