To set up the FANTEC mobiRAID X2U31 external hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Install the hard disks: Pull the inner frame out of the aluminum case and install the hard disks in the bays. Mark the hard disks accordingly with the supplied stickers. Fix the HDDs to the top of the inner frame with the shorter screws and slide the aluminum cover over the inner frame and xxxx it tight at the bottom with the longer screws.
2. Connect the device to your PC: Use the USB 3.1 (USB-C) cable for data transfer to connect the device to your PC. If the power supply is not sufficient, use the included USB cable for additional power supply.
3. Choose the RAID mode: The FANTEC mobiRAID X2U31 supports three different RAID settings - JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1. Choose the RAID mode by setting the corresponding dip switches on the device.
4. Initialize and format the hard disks: Depending on the RAID mode chosen, you may need to initialize and format the hard disks. Open the Disk Management on your PC and find the new hard drives marked as "Unknown/Not initialized". Right-click on the unknown drive, select "Initialize", and then format the disk.
5. Start using the device: Once the hard disks are initialized and formatted, you can start using the FANTEC mobiRAID X2U31 external hard drive according to your preferred RAID configuration.
