To properly apply the Grafco 6000 Fracture Kit, follow these steps:
1. Select the appropriate splint for the injured limb.
2. Support the injured limb above and below the suspected break.
3. Position the splint along the long axis of the limb.
4. Before attaching the hook & loop straps, ensure there is a pulse in the injured limb.
5. Attach the hook & loop straps and support the limb for transport.
6. Recheck to ensure there is still a pulse in the injured limb.
7. Transport the patient to medical care.
For the cervical collar:
1. While supporting the patient's head, place the padded hook & loop strip behind the patient's neck.
2. Gently slide the curved chin piece firmly in place at the front of the patient's neck.
3. Attach the loop strap to the chin piece hook strap.
4. While maintaining head support, secure the patient to the transport device using sandbags or other immobilizers as needed.
5. Arrange for transport to medical care.
