To set up the LANCOM 1926VAG-5G Dual VDSL VPN Router for initial configuration, follow these steps:
1. Connect the power supply to a power socket using the included IEC cable or the enclosed external power supply unit.
2. If your device has an integrated DSL modem, connect the G.FAST / VDSL / ADSL interfaces to a TAE socket of your provider using suitable cables.
3. Use suitable cables or modules to connect other required device interfaces to other components. If your device has mobile radio and/or Wi-Fi interfaces, connect any antennas supplied.
4. Depending on the device equipment, choose one of the following configuration methods:
a) Configuration via the local network: Connect one of the ETH or LAN interfaces of the device via an Ethernet cable either to a network switch or directly to the network device intended for configuration (e.g., notebook). Note that the CONFIG or COM interface is not suitable for configuration via the network.
b) Configuration via the serial interface of a connected computer: Use a serial configuration cable whose network connector is connected to the CONFIG or COM interface of the device. This socket is exclusively intended for connection to a serial interface.
c) Configuration via the USB interface of a connected computer: Use a commercially available USB-C connection cable, which is connected to the CONFIG interface of the device.
5. Once all required connections have been made, you can choose one of the following three start-up options:
Option 1: Configuration via web browser (WEBconfig)
- If you are configuring the device in a network without an active DHCP server, access the device from any computer with the Auto DHCP function enabled using a web browser under the IP address 172.23.56.254.
- If you are configuring the device in a network with an active DHCP server, you can reach your device via the host name reported by the device via DHCP. Replace the string "DDEEFF" with the last six digits of the MAC address of your device, which can be found on the device's nameplate.
- Follow the setup wizard "Basic settings" to complete the initial configuration.
Option 2: Configuration via the Windows software LANconfig (www.lancom-systems.com/downloads)
- Wait until the booting process of the device is completed before starting LANconfig.
- LANconfig will automatically find unconfigured LANCOM devices in the local network and start the setup wizard "Basic settings".
- Follow the setup wizard to complete the initial configuration.
Option 3: Configuration via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC)
- Special requirements are necessary to configure the device via the LMC. Refer to the information available at www.lancom-systems.com/lmc-access for more details.
Please note that these instructions provide a general overview of the initial setup process. For more detailed information and specific configurations, refer to the LANCOM 1926VAG-5G Dual VDSL VPN Router Installation Guide.
