To install the Westinghouse Saynet WH21 Longwood ceiling fan, follow these steps:
1. Unpack and inspect the fan to ensure all contents are included. Turn off the power at the fuse box to avoid electrical shock.
2. Install the mounting bracket. If you have a solid wood construction ceiling, drill four mounting holes in the ceiling joist and securely xxxx the mounting bracket to the ceiling using the washers and wood screws provided. If you have a concrete ceiling, follow the additional steps in the manual for mounting to concrete ceilings.
3. Wire the fan. Follow the wiring diagram provided in the manual to make the necessary wiring connections to the terminal block on the mounting bracket.
4. Attach the down rod assembly. Remove the clamp pin and cross pin from the down rod. Loosen the set xxxx in the down rod ball until the ball moves easily up and down the down rod. Thread the lead wires and plug through the down rod assembly. Insert the down rod into the down rod coupling, aligning the holes. Install the yoke cross pin through the yoke and down rod. Attach the yoke cover, canopy, and hang ball to the down rod.
5. Install the blades. Attach the blade assembly to the DC motor using the motor screws provided.
6. Mount the fan assembly onto the mounting bracket. Rotate the fan until the notch on the down rod ball engages the ridge on the mounting bracket. Ensure that the plug connectors from the ceiling fan and terminal block are moved away from the space located above the down rod ball. Slide the remote receiver into the space above the down rod ball. Connect the appropriate connectors from the fan and terminal block to the receiver.
7. Secure the fan to the ceiling. Loosen the screws on the bottom of the mounting bracket, raise the canopy, and align the keyholes on the bottom of the canopy with the screws. Rotate the canopy to engage the keyholes with the screws and tighten the screws to secure the canopy.
8. Install the light fixture. Align the indentations on the lampshade with the protrusions from the light kit. Lift the lampshade up, allowing the protrusions to engage the indentations, and twist the lampshade clockwise to lock it into place.
9. Mount the remote control transmitter holder onto the wall and place the transmitter into the holder.
10. Restore electrical power to the outlet box by turning on the electricity at the main fuse box. Install 2 AAA 1.5V batteries in the transmitter. The fan can be operated using the remote control.
