To install the ALFA AUE2500C Multi-Gig USB-C 2.5 Gbps Ethernet Adapter on Windows, please follow these steps:
1. Before proceeding, make sure to remove any previously installed drivers or utilities for other external adapters and disable built-in wireless and/or Ethernet adapters.
2. Connect the adapter to an open USB-C (USB Type C) port on your laptop/desktop computer.
3. When the adapter is detected, a virtual disc will be added, and an autorun prompt for driver installation will appear. If the setup wizard does not automatically start, navigate to the virtual CD-ROM and double-click ALFAINSTALL.exe. If there is a security prompt for the autorun program, grant privilege for the driver installation.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to start and complete the driver installation. Once Windows has completed the driver installation, click "Finish" to exit the driver installation wizard.
5. To verify the installation, open "Computer Management," click "System Tools," then "Device Manager." Under "Network adapters," the newly installed "Realtek USB 2.5GbE Family Controller" should appear in the network adapter list. This indicates that the USB 2.5G Ethernet adapter is now ready to use.
6. Obtain a Cat-5e or higher-grade Ethernet cable and plug one end into the adapter and the other end into a switch on the network. The USB 2.5G Ethernet adapter supports 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps network speeds. For optimum performance, use a Cat-5e or higher-grade Ethernet cable.
