To connect the Genelec 8320A Studio Monitors and Subwoofers to your computer, you will need to use the GLM Adapter and an RJ45 cable. Here are the steps:
1. Start by switching off both the monitors and the signal source before making any connections.
2. Connect the mains cable to the monitors and plug it into a mains socket with a protective earthed connection. Make sure not to use an unearthed mains cable or supply.
3. Connect the GLM Adapter to your computer's USB port and the GLM network. Use the supplied RJ45 cable for this connection.
4. Begin the control network cabling from the GLM Adapter to the first monitor. Then, continue daisy-chaining to all the monitors and subwoofers. There is no specific sequence required for this connection.
5. For analog audio input, use a balanced male XLR connector on both models.
6. If you are using the 8330A model and want to use a digital audio input, connect a male XLR connector carrying an AES/EBU formatted digital audio signal to the DIGITAL IN port. You can route the digital audio to the next monitor or subwoofer using the DIGITAL OUT port.
Once all the connections have been made, you can switch on the monitors and start using them with your computer. Remember to download the GLM software from the Genelec website and follow the setup process to align and set up the monitors and subwoofers as a system.
