To install the FLOWMASTER 717992 exhaust system on your Chevrolet Camaro, please follow the instructions provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Before starting the installation, read and understand the instructions thoroughly. Also, check that you have all the necessary parts mentioned in the inventory list.
2. Raise your vehicle on a hoist or use jack stands to support it at a suitable working height. Ensure that the vehicle has cooled down completely before touching any engine components.
3. Apply penetrating lubricant to the mounts, bolts, and clamps that need to be removed. This will make it easier to detach them.
4. Mark the tailpipes 1.5 inches back from the rear of the suspension cross-member. Cut the pipes at each mark and deburr them.
5. Remove the front wire hangers and the nuts (4) and muffler/pipe hangers (2) from the muffler rear. Take off the muffler from the vehicle and retain the nuts and muffler/pipe hangers for later use.
6. Remove the nuts from the stock and FLOWMASTER clamps. Apply anti-seize compound to the bolts and re-install the nuts.
7. Place the clamps (2) onto the left and right mufflers. Connect the mufflers to the exhaust and insert the wire hangers into the isolators. Secure the muffler ends with the nuts and muffler/pipe hangers.
8. Adjust and level the mufflers, maintaining a 1/2 inch clearance around them. Then, tighten all the clamps.
9. Slide the 1/16 inch hanger keepers (2) onto each sideways hanger to secure the exhaust system.
10. It is recommended to secure slip-fit connections with a 1-inch tack weld. Afterward, spray high-temp paint over each weld to prevent rust and premature corrosion.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed the FLOWMASTER 717992 performance exhaust system on your Chevrolet Camaro with a 3.6L engine.
