To install the GATOR GRV127KT 5 Inch Display Dash and Windscreen Mount Reverse Camera Kit, follow these steps:
1. Mounting the camera:
- The camera is best mounted above the vehicle's license plate.
- Connect the red wire of the camera's power harness to the wire that supplies power to the reversing light globe (the wire that is energized only when the car is put into reverse).
- Use a suitable splicing/crimp connector or strip connector to make the electrical connection.
- Connect one end of the supplied RCA cable to the camera's RCA socket.
2. Running the RCA cable:
- Run the RCA cable through the boot, through the passenger compartment, and to the front underside of the driver side dashboard.
- Remove the rear seat and door scuff plates to pass the cable into the cabin area and run it along the side of the vehicle.
- Replace the scuff plates to hide the RCA cable.
- Run the RCA cable from the scuff plate area to the underside of the dash behind the kick trim.
3. Connecting the monitor:
- Connect the red wire (accessories +12V) of the monitor to a wire that is energized when the vehicle's accessories are turned on.
- Connect the black wire of the monitor to a ground earth wire or to the body of the car using the steel of the car's body behind the kick trim as an earth.
- Connect the RCA cable to the RCA socket from the monitor's loom.
4. Testing the reverse camera function:
- Engage the park brake and turn the ignition key to the on position (do not start the vehicle).
- Select reverse gear with the gear shift. The monitor will sense the video signal from the camera automatically and display the camera's image of the rear of the vehicle.
Please refer to the user manual for more detailed instructions and diagrams.
Note: If you encounter any issues or have specific requirements based on your vehicle's wiring system, it is recommended to seek advice from a professional installer or contact Gator's technical department for assistance.
