To install the KICHLER 49945BKTLED River Path 1-Light Outdoor Wall Light, please follow these steps:
1. Disconnect power: Before starting the installation, ensure that the power is turned off at the main circuit breaker panel or main fuse box.
2. Mounting plate: Attach the mounting plate (A) to the outlet box (B) using the supplied strap mounting screws (C). Note that the mounting strap must be mounted with the fixture mounting flanges on the side.
3. Grounding instructions: Depending on the type of mounting strap provided, follow the grounding instructions provided in the manual. This may involve wrapping the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground xxxx or attaching it under the cupped washer and green ground xxxx . Never connect the ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
4. Make wire connections: Refer to the wire connection chart provided in the manual and connect the black or red supply wire to the corresponding wire color, and the white supply wire to the other wire color. Ensure all wire connections are secure.
5. Secure the backpan: Attach the backpan (D) to the mounting plate using the supplied mounting screws (E). Take care to ensure that the wires do not get pinched.
6. Install the glass frame: Slide the glass frame (F) over the backpan and secure it in place using the frame screws (G).
7. Install the glass: Slide the glass (H) into the glass frame, aligning the mounting holes. Secure the glass to the glass frame using the decorative xxxx (I) and decorative nut (J).
For outdoor and wet location installations, follow these additional steps:
1. Prepare the mounting surface: Ensure that the mounting surface is clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the backpan on all sides. Correct any gaps exceeding 3/16" between the mounting surface and backpan.
2. Apply silicone caulk: Apply silicone caulk completely around where the backpan meets the wall surface to prevent water from seeping into the outlet box. Do not caulk the bottom of the backpan.
3. Install the glass frame: Place the glass frame over the backpan and secure it with the provided screws.
4. Apply silicone caulk (top only): Apply silicone caulk to the top of the glass frame where it meets the wall surface. The sides and bottom of the glass frame do not require caulking.
