To install the KICHLER 49899BKLED Kent 1-Light 14.5-Inch Black Integrated Outdoor Wall Light, please follow the instructions provided in the installation guide. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Before starting the installation, make sure to disconnect power at the main circuit breaker panel or main fusebox.
2. Familiarize yourself with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local code specifications. If you are not familiar with code requirements, it is recommended to hire a certified electrician for the installation.
3. Read and understand all instructions and illustrations completely before proceeding with the assembly and installation of the fixture.
4. Ensure that all parts are used as indicated in the instructions. Do not substitute any parts, leave parts out, or use any parts that are worn or broken, as this could invalidate the UL listing, C.S.A. certification, and/or ETL listing of the fixture.
5. The fixture should be connected to a single-branch circuit.
6. Prepare the mounting surface by ensuring it is clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the fixture housing surface.
7. Find the appropriate threaded holes on the mounting strap and assemble the fixture mounting screws into them. Make sure the fixture mounting screws line up with the mounting holes in the fixture.
8. Attach the mounting strap to the outlet box using the provided mounting screws. The mounting strap can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.
9. Follow the grounding instructions provided in the manual. Depending on the type of mounting strap provided, you may need to wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground xxxx and thread it into the hole or attach the ground wire under the cupped washer and green ground xxxx , and thread it into the mounting strap. If the fixture is provided with a ground wire, connect it to the outlet box ground wire using a wire connector.
10. Make the wire connections according to the reference chart provided in the manual. Connect the black or red supply wire to the corresponding wire on the fixture, and connect the white supply wire to the other wire on the fixture. Pay attention to the type of wires being used (parallel cord or insulated wire) and their color coding.
11. Carefully push the fixture to the wall, ensuring that the fixture mounting screws pass through the fixture mounting holes. Make sure all connections remain secure and wires do not get pinched.
12. Attach the fixture to the mounting plate using the provided lock-up knobs.
13. If mounting the fixture outdoors and/or in wet locations, ensure that the mounting surface is clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the fixture canopy on all sides. Correct any gaps between the mounting surface and fixture canopy exceeding 3/16" as required. Apply silicone caulking compound to the top and sides where the edge of the fixture canopy meets the wall surface to prevent water from entering the outlet box. Leave the bottom of the fixture canopy un-caulked.
14. For cleaning, always make sure the electric current is turned off before cleaning. Only use a damp cloth, as harsh cleaning products may damage the finish.
