Installation of the KICHLER 49864WZC Andover Outdoor Wall Light involves the following steps:
1. Before starting the installation, ensure that the power is disconnected at the main circuit breaker panel or main fuse box.
2. Find the appropriate threaded holes on the mounting strap that align with the hole distance in the canopy. Thread the mounting screws into these threaded holes, starting from the outlet box side.
3. Attach the mounting strap to the outlet box using the strap mounting screws. The mounting strap can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.
4. Grounding instructions:
- If the mounting strap is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground xxxx and thread it into the hole.
- If a cupped washer is provided, put the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and the green ground xxxx , and thread the xxxx into the hole in the mounting strap.
- If the fixture is provided with a ground wire, connect it to the outlet box ground wire using a wire connector. Never connect the ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
5. Make wire connections according to the provided chart for correct connections.
6. Carefully push the fixture to the wall, ensuring that the mounting screws pass through the holes in the canopy. Make sure all wires are inside the canopy and do not get pinched between the wall and the fixture's canopy.
7. Thread the lockup knobs onto the mounting screws and tighten them to secure the fixture to the wall.
8. Install the glass by sliding it up over the installed bulb and rotating it clockwise until seated. Do not over-tighten.
9. Insert the recommended bulb (not supplied).
For mounting the fixture outdoors and/or in wet locations, follow these additional instructions:
- The mounting surface should be clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the canopy on all sides.
- Correct any gaps between the mounting surface and canopy exceeding 3/16" as required.
- Use silicone caulking compound to completely caulk around where the back of the canopy meets the wall surface to prevent water from seeping into the outlet box.
