To install the KICHLER 49149AZ Zolder 1-Light 17-Inch Architectural Bronze Outdoor Wall Light, follow these steps:
1. Before starting, make sure to turn off the power. Go to the main fuse or circuit breaker box in your home and switch off the power to the fixture or room you are working on.
2. Attach the mounting strap to the outlet box using screws (not provided). The mounting strap can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.
3. Grounding instructions:
a) If the mounting strap is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground xxxx and thread it into the hole.
b) If a cupped washer is provided, attach the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and green ground xxxx , and thread it into the mounting strap. If the fixture has a ground wire, connect it to the outlet box ground wire using a wire connector (not provided). Never connect the ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
4. Make the wire connections according to the reference chart provided in the manual. Connect the black or red supply wire to the black wire of the fixture, and connect the white supply wire to the white wire of the fixture. Follow the chart for other wire colors and types.
5. Push the fixture to the wall, passing the mounting screws through the holes in the canopy.
6. Thread the threaded balls onto the mounting screws and tighten them to secure the fixture to the wall.
7. Insert the recommended bulb into the socket. Be cautious not to touch the bulb with bare hands. If you accidentally touch it, clean the bulb with denatured alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
8. Lower the glass down over the socket and fit the bottom edge of the glass into the cup on the fixture.
9. Carefully turn the glass to secure it in place. Do not over tighten.
If you are mounting the fixture outdoors and/or in wet locations, ensure that the mounting surface is clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the canopy on all sides. Any gaps exceeding 3/16" between the mounting surface and canopy should be corrected. Apply silicone caulking compound around the back of the canopy where it meets the wall surface to prevent water from seeping into the outlet box.
