To connect your garage door opener to the myQ Smart Garage Control, please follow these steps:
1. Check compatibility: Ensure that your garage door opener is compatible with the Smart Garage Control. It works with most brands of garage door openers manufactured after 1993 that use photoelectric sensors that do not shut off. However, it is not compatible with openers in which the photoelectric sensors located near the bottom of the garage door change power mode, or any Chamberlain Group opener with a yellow learn button manufactured between 2010 and 2021, or any Linear opener. 2. Install the Smart Garage Control: Mount the Smart Garage Control hub in a recommended location. It should be at least 6 feet above the ground, within 5 feet of an outlet, visible at all times from within the garage, and 4 feet away from any metal objects. Refer to the "Where to mount your Smart Garage Control hub" directions in the manual for detailed instructions.
3. Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure that your Smart Garage Control hub is within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router. If the Wi-Fi signal in the garage is weak, consider adding a Wi-Fi extender halfway between your router and the Smart Garage Control hub. Avoid placing the extender in the garage. 4. Download the myQ app: Download and install the myQ app on your smartphone from your app store.
5. Create a myQ account: Open the myQ app and create a myQ account if you don't have one already. Follow the prompts to set up your account.
6. Add the Smart Garage Control: In the myQ app, select "Add Device" or a similar option to add the Smart Garage Control. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. If prompted, press the LEARN button on your garage door opener to sync it with the Smart Garage Control.
7. Test and control your garage door: Once the setup is complete, you should be able to control your garage door opener from the myQ app on your smartphone. You can open, close, and monitor the status of your garage door remotely.
