Crimping TE Connectivity PIDG terminals and splices is a straightforward process. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Strip the wire insulation: Use a wire stripper to remove a small portion of the insulation from the end of the wire. The length of the stripped portion should be equal to the length of the metal sleeve on the terminal or splice.
2. Insert the wire into the terminal/splice: Insert the stripped end of the wire into the terminal or splice. Make sure that the wire is fully inserted and that it reaches the back of the terminal/splice.
3. Crimp the terminal/splice: Use a crimping tool specifically designed for PIDG terminals and splices. Position the crimping tool over the terminal/splice and squeeze the handles firmly to crimp the metal sleeve onto the wire. The crimping tool should apply even pressure to ensure a secure connection.
4. Inspect the crimp: After crimping, visually inspect the connection to ensure that the metal sleeve is securely crimped onto the wire. The crimp should be tight and free from any gaps or loose connections.
5. Test the connection: Once the crimp is complete, test the connection by gently tugging on the wire. The wire should be securely held in place and should not come loose from the terminal/splice.
