To replace a bulb in the GE Lighting 71401N Incandescent Capiz Style Star, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the set is unplugged before changing bulbs.
2. Grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle or outlet device. Do not pull on the cord to unplug.
3. Hold the bulb by the plastic base and pull it straight out of the socket.
4. Replace the bulb with the 8 Volt, 0.72 Watt super brightness midget push-in type lamp provided with the product.
5. Push the spare bulb/base assembly into the socket without twisting it. Twisting the bulb may cause a part of the set to not light up.
6. If the spare bulbs provided with the product have no plastic base or the plastic base does not fit, follow steps 1-2 above.
7. Remove the old bulb by straightening the bulb wires and pulling the bulb straight from the base.
8. Replace the new bulb by straightening the bulb leads and aiming each wire into a separate hole in the plastic base.
9. Make sure each bulb lead comes out of an exit opening at the bottom of the plastic base.
10. Bend each lead up so that each bulb lead fits closely against the narrow side of the plastic base.
Note: This lighting string is rated 10.8 Watts (0.09 Amps), so do not overload it. Replace lamps only with 8 volt, 0.72 Watt spare lamps provided with this product.
