To upgrade the firmware on your SeaTrac Tracking and Data Modems, please follow the steps outlined in the user manual.
1. Preparation:
- Visit the Blueprint Subsea website and download the latest version of the SeaTrac PinPoint Installer from the support pages.
- Install the PinPoint application, which includes the SeaTracProgrammer software tool required for the firmware upgrade.
2. Programming New Firmware:
- Connect the SeaTrac beacon to the serial port of your PC or use the USB-to-Serial converter supplied with the SeaTrac system.
- Power up the SeaTrac beacon and run the SeaTracProgrammer program.
- In the application window, select the COM port the beacon is connected to and choose a baud rate of 115200.
- Click "CONNECT" to establish a connection with the SeaTrac beacon.
- Check the beacon's hardware information by clicking the "INFO" button.
- Make a note of the Hardware Revision and Application Version.
- Click the "BROWSE" button and navigate to the location of the firmware file with the FWX extension.
- Select the appropriate firmware file based on the Hardware Revision of your SeaTrac beacon.
- Click "OPEN" to choose the firmware file.
- Finally, click on the "PROGRAM" button to start programming the firmware.
- The progress of the firmware upgrade will be displayed, and it may take a couple of minutes to complete.
- After programming completes, the SeaTrac beacon will reboot. Click the "INFO" button again to verify that the Application Version has changed to the new firmware release.
- Close the SeaTracProgrammer software to complete the programming process.
Note: It is recommended to repeat the above steps for each beacon that needs to be upgraded.
