To install the Commercial Electric 81545 ON-OFF Turn xxxx Socket, please follow the instructions provided in the installation guide:

1. Before starting the installation, make sure to turn off the power supply to the lamp or light fixture.

2. Disassemble the shell from the cap by pressing where indicated on the shell. Remove the wires from the interior mechanism and loosen the set xxxx (if any) on the bushing of the old cap. Unscrew the cap from the pipe while holding the pipe to prevent it from turning.

3. Pass the wire through the bushing on the new cap. xxxx the cap onto the pipe and tighten the set xxxx on the cap bushing securely. Ensure that the insulating disk is at the bottom of the cap.

4. Tie an underwriters knot in the wires as shown in the diagram. Pull the knot tight.

5. Strip the insulation from the wires to expose 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch of bare copper strands. Be careful not to damage the wire strands or insulation beyond the stripped length.

6. Twist the copper strands of each wire tightly together. Loop the wires clockwise 3/4 turn around the terminal screws. Firmly tighten the screws over the wire loops. Connect the white or ribbed wire (or the one with a color tracer or silver strands) to the silver terminal xxxx , and connect the remaining wire to the brass terminal xxxx . Cut off any loose strands that are not secure under the xxxx heads.

7. Slide the metal shell (with the insulating liner inside) over the mechanism so that the switch is seated in the slot(s) on the shell. Push the shell firmly into the cap until it locks securely and evenly into position. To ensure locking, push on the metal shell only.

8. Plug in the lamp or restore power to the circuit.
