To connect the NOCO GEN5X2 2-Bank 10A On-Board Battery Charger to your battery, follow these steps:
1. Identify the correct polarity of the battery terminals on the battery. The positive battery terminal is typically marked with letters or symbols such as "POS," "P," or "+." The negative battery terminal is typically marked with letters or symbols such as "NEG," "N," or "-."
2. If the battery is installed in a vehicle, follow these steps:
a. Position the AC and DC cords to reduce the risk of damage by the hood, door, or moving engine parts.
b. Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other parts that can cause injury.
c. Check the polarity of the battery terminals. The positive battery terminal usually has a larger diameter than the negative battery terminal.
d. For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the positive (red) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector from the battery charger to the positive ungrounded battery terminal. Connect the negative (black) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
e. For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the negative (black) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector from the battery charger to the negative ungrounded battery terminal. Connect the positive (red) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
3. If the battery is outside the vehicle, follow these steps:
a. Attach at least a 24-inch-long 6-gauge insulated battery cable to the negative battery terminal.
b. Connect the positive (red) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector from the battery charger to the positive battery terminal.
c. Position yourself and the free end of the cable as far away from the battery as possible, then connect the negative (black) battery clamp or eyelet terminal connector to the free end of the cable.
4. Once the battery charger is connected to the battery, plug the AC power plug into a suitable electrical outlet.
