To use the Lovibond 155235 Pooltester for testing Copper, pH, and Active Oxygen in your pool, please follow these instructions:
1. Remove the lid of the Pooltester and rinse out the compartments with the pool water you want to test.
2. Fill all compartments to the top with the pool water to be analyzed. You can scoop up the water from a few inches below the surface for convenience.
3. Press a PHENOLRED tablet out of the strip and drop it directly into the left-hand chamber of the Pooltester. Make sure not to touch the tablet with your fingers.
4. Press a DPD No. 1 tablet out of the strip and drop it directly into the right-hand chamber of the Pooltester. Again, avoid touching the tablet with your fingers.
5. Replace the lid of the Pooltester with the arrows pointing towards the printed front.
6. The tablets will quickly dissolve. Invert the Pooltester several times to mix the contents thoroughly.
7. Hold the Pooltester towards natural daylight and take the readings. Select the nearest color match against the color standards provided and read off the corresponding values.
8. The value on the left is the pH value, and the value on the right is the concentration of free chlorine (mg/l).
Important Notes:
- Avoid touching the tablets with your fingers as it can lead to inaccurate results.
- Color matching should be done immediately after the tablets have dissolved in the water sample.
- After each measurement, thoroughly rinse the Pooltester and lid to prevent errors due to cross-contamination.
- Chlorine levels above 10 mg/l can cause bleaching of the DPD color.
- pH values below 6.8 may produce a yellow coloration, leading to an incorrect reading of 6.8. pH values above 8.2 may produce a red coloration, leading to an incorrect reading of 8.2.
- Water samples with low values of Total Alkalinity may give wrong pH readings.
Caution:
- The reagent tablets provided are only for chemical analysis and should not be used for any other purpose.
- Keep the tablets out of reach of children.
