To prepare the Harvia 50 Wood Burning Stove for use, follow these steps:
1. Perform the first heating outdoors or in a well-ventilated room. This is because the stove body has been painted with protective paint, which will vaporize during the first heating and emit smoke. Remove leftover paint mechanically with a wire brush and a vacuum cleaner.
2. Do not place the sauna stones in the stove before the first heating. Place the stones in the stove only when it has cooled completely after the first heating.
3. Use dry wood as the burning material. Dry chopped firewood clinks when knocked together. Avoid burning materials with a high thermal value, such as chipboard, plastic, coal, brickets, and pellets.
4. The sauna stones should be 10-15 cm in diameter and should be proper stones meant for sauna use. Wash off dust from the stones before piling them into the stove. Place the larger stones at the bottom and the smaller ones on top, ensuring air circulation between the stones. Do not place stones against the frame around the stone space or on top of it. Do not place stones between the grille and the stove body.
By following these steps, you can properly prepare the Harvia 50 Wood Burning Stove for use in your sauna. For more detailed instructions and safety precautions, please refer to the instruction manual provided.
