The BAYROL pH-Br Pooltester Crystal Pools is a pool testing kit designed to measure the pH and free bromine levels in your pool water. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use this product:
1. Collect a water sample: Use the provided water sampling bottle to collect a sample of your pool water. Make sure to fill the bottle up to the indicated mark.
2. Prepare the test: Open the test kit and remove the color comparator block. Place it on a flat surface with good lighting.
3. Test for pH: Take one pH tablet from the packaging and add it to the water sample in the bottle. Close the bottle tightly and shake it for about 10 seconds to dissolve the tablet completely.
4. Observe the color: After shaking, compare the color of the water sample with the color scale on the color comparator block. Find the color that matches the water sample and read the corresponding pH value.
5. Test for free bromine: Take one free bromine tablet from the packaging and add it to the water sample in the bottle. Close the bottle tightly and shake it for about 10 seconds to dissolve the tablet completely.
6. Observe the color: After shaking, compare the color of the water sample with the color scale on the color comparator block. Find the color that matches the water sample and read the corresponding free bromine level.
Important Notes:
- Levels of free bromine above 20 mg/l can cause bleaching off the DPD color, so be cautious when interpreting high bromine levels.
- pH values below 6.8 and above 8.2 can produce colorations that may lead to incorrect readings. Take this into consideration when interpreting pH values.
- Water samples with low values of Total Alkalinity may give wrong pH readings, so it's important to maintain proper alkalinity levels in your pool.
Caution:
- The reagent tablets provided with the kit are only to be used for chemical analysis and should not be used for any other purpose.
- Keep the kit out of reach of children.
