If your pool has copper plumbing, it is not recommended to install the feeder into it as it could cause pipe damage. Instead, the feeder should be installed above the pool water level whenever possible. If you need to install it below the water level, special instructions must be followed for safe and proper operation. The feeder needs to be isolated from the pool water by using a one-way check valve on the discharge line at the top of the feeder. It is important to never use any type of isolation valve on the discharge or outlet side of the feeder as it can cause damage. Additionally, draining the feeder is necessary to prevent the splashback of highly chlorinated water during recharging. There is a ½" MPT plug on the side of the feeder that can be removed for draining. It is recommended to install the outlet line after the heater to prevent damage to the heater. Detailed installation instructions can be found in the manual, along with a drawing for reference (Figure A).
