To install the PENTAIR 320 Automatic Chlorine Feeder in your pool or spa, follow these steps:
1. Make sure all pumps and timer switches are in the OFF position.
2. Choose a site in the return line where the feeder can be installed in a vertical position. Install it after the heater, pool cleaner, valves, or any other equipment. If your pool does not have a heater, then it must be installed after the filter or any other piece of equipment.
3. If your pool is equipped with a solar system, you may need to install a HI FLOW KIT to ensure adequate flow and pressure through the system. Refer to the information provided in the manual.
4. The feeder can be installed in existing PVC plumbing but will require a union and/or other fittings. The feeder comes complete with 2" or 1½" PVC plumbing for installation.
5. If using 2" PVC pipe, simply glue the feeder to the return line using PVC SOLVENT CEMENT. Make sure the arrows on the feeder point in the direction of water flow returning to the pool or spa.
6. If using 1½" PVC pipe, remove the 2" x 1½" slip reducer bushings packed inside the feeder and glue them into a 2" slip tee on the bottom of the feeder. Then, glue the feeder into the 1½" return line, making sure the arrows on the feeder point in the direction of water flow returning to the pool or spa.
7. Once the feeder is installed, turn on the pump and timer switches for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours.
8. Adjust the control valve according to your pool/spa size. Use a test kit to determine the chemical residual. It is recommended to check the chemical residual daily for the first 5 days. Adjust the valve setting as needed based on the chlorine demand in your pool/spa.
9. To recharge the feeder, turn the control valve to the closed position and shut off the pump. Wait for one minute to allow water and fumes to drain from the feeder. Then, leave the control valve closed and turn on the pump. Remove the cap, fill the feeder with the proper size tablets or sticks, and replace the cap. Open the control valve to the original setting.
10. Inspect the inlet line below the control valve each time the feeder is recharged and replace lines yearly if necessary.
