To install the Next Century LS4 Wireless Leak Monitoring Solution, follow these steps:
1. Choose the installation location: Common installation locations include areas where small leaks are likely to go undetected, such as behind and under washers, water heaters, sinks, refrigerators, etc.
2. Mount the Leak Sensor: Peel off the backing on the included adhesive pad and mount it onto the wall. Slide the sensor onto the mounting plate. If additional holding strength is desired, use the included screws and plastic anchors to secure the sensor by pre-drilling using a 7/32” (5.5mm) drill bit.
3. Connect the Sense Cables: Ensure the style and quantity of Sense Cables ordered fit your installation requirements. Plug in the Sense Cable and confirm the connection with a tone. For Rope Sense Cable, route and secure the cable, as water will be detected anywhere along the cable. For Targeted Sense Cable, secure it with contacts touching the floor using the provided hardware. For multi-point detection, connect additional Sense Cables to extend the detection area up to 18 feet.
4. Program the sensor: Programming is the process of associating the sensor's serial number with its installed location. Use the NextCentury web or mobile app to create the building layout by adding buildings or floors and unit numbers. Add the serial number of the Gateway and Repeaters that have been or will be installed. Scan the sensor's barcode using an accessory barcode scanner or the mobile app's built-in scanner. Enter any location or description information that will be useful for tracking and maintenance.
5. Check wireless communication: Open the cover of the sensor and press the red button to initiate a two-way wireless check-in. The sensor's LED indicator will blink green two times to verify its connection with the Gateway. If green blinks are not seen, ensure the Gateway is online and any needed Repeaters are powered on. Press the red button again to retry. If green blinks are still not seen, an additional Repeater may need to be installed.
6. Activate Leak Monitoring Subscription: Enable the Leak Monitoring Service subscription to utilize the full suite of leak protection features. Manage active leak alerts from the web app or allow property managers to manage alerts through the Property Operator portal. Once configured, alerts will automatically go out via phone, text, and/or email. Alert notifications are repeated until one of the Alert Contacts confirms receipt of the alert.
