To set up the KING INNOVATION 42521 Wire and Valve Locating System, follow these steps:
1. Connect the red and black leads together and turn the unit on.
2. Turn the transmitter to the off position. Use the stake provided to connect the black lead to a good earth ground. Connect the red lead to the wire you wish to locate.
3. Switch the transmitter to the on position. Rotate the selector xxxx clockwise. The meter needle should fall to near zero as you leave the battery test position and go to position #1. As you increase the output, the needle will rise slightly. Continue rotating the selector xxxx until the meter readout is between 4 and 8, which indicates that the transmitter is set for maximum efficiency for the job.
4. Turn the receiver on and point the antenna at the transmitter. You should hear an audible pulsing tone and see a visible indication on the receiver.
