The installation instructions for the Carrier PF4MNX Fan Coil Unit are provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the unit:
1. Check Equipment: Unpack the unit and inspect it for any damage. Make sure it matches the job specifications listed on the unit rating plate.
2. Mount Unit: Decide on the installation location for the unit. It can be mounted on the floor, hung from the ceiling or wall, or placed on a manufactured or mobile home. Ensure there is enough space for wiring, piping, and servicing the unit.
3. Upflow Installation: If the return air is to be ducted through a floor, set the unit on the floor over the opening and use a fireproof resilient gasket between the duct, unit, and floor. For side return, cut an opening according to the provided dimensions and use a field-supplied bottom closure.
4. Downflow Installation: In this application, a field conversion of the evaporator is required using an accessory downflow kit and base kit. Use a fireproof resilient gasket between the duct, unit, and floor. Follow the installation instructions supplied with the kit for proper installation.
5. Horizontal Installation: The unit is factory built for horizontal left installation. When suspending the unit from the ceiling, use metal support straps and mount them in the dimples on the casing. For high return static and humid return air, a Water Management Kit may be required.
6. Horizontal Right Conversion: If you need to convert the unit for horizontal right installation, follow the specific instructions provided in the manual for both slope coil and A-coil units.
7. Manufactured and Mobile Home Housing Applications: Secure the fan coil to the structure using field-supplied hardware. Allow a minimum of 24" clearance from access panels.
8. Air Ducts: Connect the supply-air duct over the provided flanges on the unit. Secure the duct using proper fasteners and seal the duct-to-unit joint. Install return-air flanges if required. Use flexible connectors to prevent vibration transmission. Insulate and cover ductwork passing through unconditioned space.
9. Electrical Connections: Make sure to turn off all power to the unit before making any electrical connections. Follow the wiring label on the blower for low-voltage connections. Use copper wire and make all electrical connections in accordance with the NEC and local codes. Install a separate branch electric circuit with a field-supplied disconnect switch.
10. Refrigerant Tubing Connection and Evacuation: Use refrigerant grade tubing to connect the suction and liquid tubes. Make sure to insulate the suction tube. Brazing should be done using silver bearing or non-silver bearing brazing materials. Evacuate the coil and tubing system to 500 microns before opening the outdoor unit service valves.
11. Condensate Drains: Remove the cap openings and install the condensate lines. Caulk around the lines where they exit the fitting to retain the low leak rating of the unit. Install traps in the condensate lines and make sure the outlet of each trap is below its connection to the condensate pan.
12. Accessories: If you are installing a humidifier, follow the provided diagrams and instructions for connecting it to the fan coil unit.
Please note that this is a general overview of the installation process. For detailed instructions and specific requirements, refer to the Carrier PF4MNX Fan Coil Units Instruction Manual.
