To install the Carrier FZ4ANP Fan Coils, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the unit and inspect it for any damage. If there is any damage, file a claim with the shipping company.
2. Locate the unit rating plate to ensure it matches the job specifications.
3. Decide on the installation orientation: upflow, downflow (requires a conversion kit), or horizontal.
4. For upflow installation, set the unit on the floor over the opening and use a fireproof resilient gasket between the duct, unit, and floor.
5. For downflow installation, a field conversion of the evaporator is required using an accessory downflow kit and base kit. Use a fireproof resilient gasket between the duct, unit, and floor.
6. For horizontal installation, the unit must not be installed with access panels facing up or down. Metal support straps can be used to mount the unit from the ceiling.
7. Secure the unit to the structure using field-supplied hardware, ensuring a minimum clearance of 24 inches from access panels.
8. Connect the supply-air duct over the flanges provided on the supply-air opening and secure it with proper fasteners. Install return-air flanges if required.
9. Make the necessary electrical connections following the unit wiring label and local codes. Use copper wire and ensure proper grounding.
10. Connect the refrigerant tubing using a brazing shield to prevent damage to the unit surface and condensate pan fitting caps.
11. Install the condensate drains, ensuring both primary and secondary drain lines are installed with properly-sized condensate traps. Pitch the drain lines downward for proper drainage.
12. Check the unit wiring label for the minimum CFM and motor speed selection. Adjust the motor speed tap accordingly.
13. Evacuate the coil and field-supplied tubing to 500 microns before opening the outdoor unit service valves.
14. Follow the start-up procedures outlined in the outdoor unit installation instructions for system start-up and refrigerant charging.
15. Install a filter in the return air duct system to prevent damage to the unit. Replace or clean the filter on a monthly basis.
16. Perform regular maintenance on the unit as recommended by your local dealer to ensure high performance and minimize equipment failure.
