To properly apply the aiSonTM Focus Ultra scalloped pad on an ultrasound probe, follow these steps:
1. Leave the ultrasound probe in its designated holder/storage on the ultrasound machine.
2. Apply regular ultrasound gel (or any coupling agent allowed by the manufacturer) to the sensor, fully covering it.
3. Verify that the aiSonTM Focus package is completely sealed and unopened before opening. Make sure the product has not expired.
4. Peel open the aiSonTM Focus packaging fully.
5. Pick up the aiSonTM Focus at the end with the integrated elastic opening.
6. Stretch the integrated elastic opening to approximately match the widest point of the ultrasound probe by placing index and middle fingers on the inside of the opening.
7. While keeping the integrated elastic opening stretched, gather the pad's material using the thumbs on the outside surface of the aiSonTM Focus, rolling it up to form a ring-like shape with the liquid repository in the center.
8. Turn the aiSonTM Focus upside down and place the liquid repository centered on the ultrasound probe's sensor. Hold the pad in place by pressing it against the probe near the sensor with the thumbs while releasing the integrated elastic opening by retracting the index and middle fingers.
9. Release the thumbs and use one hand to fix the pad against the probe on the long sides of the probe while lifting it out of its holder/storage.
10. While holding the pad in place with one hand, pull down on the aiSonTM Focus' bottom end with the integrated elastic opening with the other hand to fully extend the pad and cover the largest possible area of the ultrasound probe with its material.
11. Carefully pick up the loose elastic band provided in the package with the pad and place it around the probe's neck or below its widest point.
12. Twist the elastic band around the probe as many times as necessary to tightly fasten the aiSonTM Focus on the ultrasound probe.
13. If the liquid repository is not centered on the ultrasound probe's sensor, adjust it by pulling on the pad's material without loosening the elastic band.
14. Remove any air pockets enclosed in the ultrasound gel between the pad and the probe's sensor by pressing down on the pad with a finger. Then apply ultrasound gel or another approved coupling agent between the pad and the patient's skin. Ensure sufficient coupling agent is applied for optimal image visibility.
To remove the aiSonTM Focus Ultra scalloped pad from the ultrasound probe:
1. Unwind the elastic band around the ultrasound probe's neck.
2. Pull the aiSonTM Focus upwards at the integrated elastic opening and remove it from the ultrasound probe in one go.
3. Dispose of the aiSonTM Focus pad in a regular waste bin.
4. Remove the ultrasound gel on the sensor and clean the ultrasound probe according to the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
