To install the HINKLEY 853450 Kline 11 Inch Tall Bathroom Sconce, follow these steps:
1. Find a clear area in which you can work.
2. Unpack the fixture and glass from the carton.
3. Carefully review the instructions prior to assembly.
4. To begin installation, remove the mounting plate (A) from the backplate (B) by removing the three screws (C) located at the top and two on the lower side of the backplate. Set the screws aside for later use.
5. Attach a mounting plate (A) to the junction box (J) using two screws (D), which are not provided. Make sure that one of the tabs (T) is facing toward the ground and level before tightening the screws.
6. Make all necessary electrical connections following the instruction sheet IS-18 provided. Ensure that you read the wiring and grounding instructions (I.S. 18) and any additional directions. Turn off the power supply during installation. If new wiring is required, consult a qualified electrician or local authorities for code requirements.
7. After all connections are made, tuck the wires into the junction box (J) and slip the backplate (B) over the mounting tabs (T), aligning the threaded holes in the tab (T) with the holes (H) in the backplate (B).
8. Thread in the screws (C) that were removed earlier and tighten them to secure the fixture to the wall.
9. To complete the assembly, attach the glass to the fixture by threading the socket ring (1) off of the socket. Slip the socket (S) through the small hole in the bottom of the glass (2) and let the glass rest on the glass fitter (3). Thread the socket ring (1) back onto the socket, ensuring that the top of the socket ring with the stamped thread is facing down toward the glass.
10. Install a bulb using any medium base bulb with a wattage of 100w or under.
11. Follow the wiring and grounding instructions provided in the manual to complete all electrical connections based on whether you are installing an indoor or outdoor fixture.
12. For flush mount fixtures, fasten the fixture ground wire (E) to the fixture mounting strap (M) with the ground xxxx (S).
13. For chain hung fixtures, loop the fixture ground wire (E) under the head of the ground xxxx (S) on the fixture mounting strap (M) and connect it to the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the building system using appropriately sized twist-on connectors.
14. For post-mount fixtures, connect the fixture ground wire (E) to the power supply ground with an appropriately sized twist-on connector inside the post. Cover the open end of the connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
15. Once the installation is complete, seal any gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall using caulk to prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform specially designed for lap siding.
16. For any further questions or assistance, you can contact HINKLEY at LARK 33000 PIN OAK PARKWAY, AVON LAKE, OH 44012 or visit their website at LarkLiving.com.
