To match and connect the wires on the CRUTCHFIELD Metra 120 70-9500 Receiver Wiring Adapter to your receiver, follow these steps:
1. Compare the wires on the adapter with the wires on your receiver. The wire colors may or may not match, so it is important to match the wires by their function, disregarding color.
2. Refer to the instructions supplied with your receiver to identify the function of each wire. Match the wires on the adapter to the corresponding function on your receiver.
3. Individually tape off any unused wires on the adapter.
4. Strip back 1/2" of insulation from the ends of the wires.
5. Twist the wires from the adapter together with the corresponding wires from your receiver.
6. Insert the twisted wires into a crimp cap.
7. Squeeze the middle of the crimp cap to create a tight connection.
8. Repeat the crimp connection process for all necessary wires.
9. If there are any wires from the Wiring Adapter that are not necessary (wires with no match from the new receiver), wrap them with electrical tape to prevent any potential issues.
10. Finally, when you are ready to install the receiver, plug the Wiring Adapter from the new receiver or receiver assembly into the factory radio harness(es) in the vehicle dash.
Note: For certain vehicles, such as the 2002-'08 Jaguar X-Type and 2003-'08 Jaguar S-Type, it is important to splice the wires in the factory harness to the receiver ground or to the vehicle chassis to prevent triggering the factory alarm system. Specifically, for the 2002-'08 Jaguar X-Type, splice the red wire in pin #3 of the 20-pin connector. For the 2003-'08 Jaguar S-Type, splice the black/green wire in pin #3 of the 20-pin connector.
