To assemble the Rice Lake RL-MPS-40 Mechanical Physician Scale, follow these steps:
1. Place the scale base on a hard level surface and remove the ties and cable tie that hold the steelyard rod during shipping.
2. Insert the pillar into the scale base assembly, ensuring that the smaller face of the weight beam faces the scale base.
3. Secure the pillar to the scale base using a Phillips head screwdriver and eight bolts with washers.
4. Lay the scale on a table and insert the hook end of the included wrench into the small hole in front of the steelyard rod. Pull the rod to connect it to the scale base.
5. Push the long lever forward and hook the bearing of the steelyard rod on the pivot of the long lever.
6. Visually ensure that the force lever assembly linkage is centered and properly aligned by looking underneath the top weigh beam. The linkage must be free-floating for accurate weighing.
7. Place the scale gently back on the floor, ensuring all feet are out from under the scale location.
8. To install the height rod, insert the slotted holes of the height rod onto the two hex-head screws on the front side of the pillar. Use the wrench to tighten the screws until snug.
9. Press the red button at the top of the height rod to ensure it moves easily.
10. If desired, install the wheels by aligning the wheel mount to the scale frame, inserting the screws with washers through the bracket and the scale frame, and adjusting the bracket to a level position. Tighten the screws.
11. The scale is now assembled and ready for use.
