To convert the ASHCROFT 1189 Low Pressure Bellows Gauge from a standard dry gauge to a liquid filled gauge, you will need the appropriate conversion kit (either the 1280 or 1283 kit, depending on the gauge model). Here are the steps to follow:
1. Unscrew the front threaded ring of the gauge (turn counterclockwise) and remove the glass window.
2. Discard the glass window and replace it with the acrylic plastic window provided in the conversion kit. Make sure to remove the protective paper from the plastic window before installing it.
3. Moisten the face of the threaded ring with silicone oil or silicone grease where it bears against the window.
4. Replace the front threaded ring and tighten it firmly by hand.
5. From the rear of the gauge, remove the rear cover and cover gaskets from the case.
6. If converting to a liquid filled gauge, follow the filling procedures provided in the manual (either the manual filling procedure or the vacuum pump fill procedure).
7. Assemble the rear seal diaphragm to the case for lower connection gauges.
8. If necessary, replace the rear cover and cover gaskets.
9. The gauge is now converted to a liquid filled gauge.
Please note that it is important to follow the instructions in the manual and use the appropriate conversion kit for your specific gauge model.
