To secure the Build-a-Branch swing hanger to a tree, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Choose a healthy tree with a minimum trunk diameter of 12 inches and a maximum diameter of 24 inches. Ensure that the tree is alive and free from any signs of disease, rot, or damage.
2. Gather the required tools: a 10 ft ladder and a Phillips head screwdriver.
3. Measure and mark 43 inches from the desired height and location for the swing hanger using the ladder. The bottom height should be set at a minimum of 6 ft and a maximum of 9 ft.
4. Position the top tree pad at the top mark on the tree. Optionally, insert nails into the holes of the top bracket to secure it to the tree.
5. Thread the 7 ft x 2 in ratchet strap through the top tree pad and around the tree, ensuring that the black printed line is facing out. Position the ratchet to the back of the tree and ratchet the strap securely. Slide the ratchet cover over the ratchet to secure the excess line.
6. Connect the 2" cross strap to the front of the left and right tree brackets. The cross strap should be slightly forward from the center point of each side of the tree. Measure the diameter of the tree and make the center strap approximately 4 inches shorter than the diameter length.
7. Feed the 2" top support strap through the opening at the end of the Build-a-Branch with the SLACKERS logo facing up and the black printed line facing down. Weave the bottom of the line through the bottom of the buckle and secure it below the buckle and top layer of the line.
8. Attach the locking carabiner at the end of the support strap to the loop on the top tree bracket. Ensure that the wide end of the carabiner is on the strap, while the narrow end clips to the bracket.
9. Lift the left and right brackets to the bottom of the 43" marker on the tree, with a minimum height of 6 ft and a maximum height of 9 ft. Position the side brackets so that they are centered on the width of the tree. Adjust the front cross strap if necessary to ensure that the brackets are even and centered on each side.
10. While another adult helps hold the Build-a-Branch in place, take the 20 ft x 2 in ratchet strap and weave the line through the slots at the back of each side bracket, with the black printed line facing out. Pull the line through until the ratchet is positioned between the two brackets and let the ratchet hang down. Wrap the line around the top and bottom of each side bracket, and then ratchet the excess line until the line and pads are secure and the ratchet cannot be tightened further.
11. Use the included zip ties to secure any loose strap.
12. Adjust the top support strap slightly to ensure that the Build-a-Branch is level and parallel to the ground. Use the black elastic loop to secure any excess line.
Please note that it is important to perform a mandatory load stress test after completing the installation instructions before allowing children to use the swing. This test involves having two adults, whose combined weight is approximately 500 lb, pull down on the Build-a-Branch. If any movement or slipping of the brackets is noticed during the test, the weight should be removed immediately, and the ratchet straps should be retightened.
For additional security, you can also xxxx 3" wood screws into the four holes located on all three brackets.
