To set up your TANGERINE BYO router for FTTP connections, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Locate the NBN Connection Box that has been installed inside your property.
Step 2: Gently lift the cover of the NBN Connection Box by pressing the two clips on either side and lifting the cover at an angle.
Step 3: Ensure that the power cable is securely in place and that the Power and Optical lights on the Connection Box are showing as steady green.
Step 4: On the underside of the NBN Connection Box, you will see the Uni-D ports surrounded by yellow. Connect your router's WAN port to the relevant Uni-D port on the NBN Connection Box using an Ethernet network cable. The specific Uni-D port number will be detailed in the emails sent to you by TANGERINE.
Step 5: Connect a computer or laptop to your BYO router either via a cable or Wi-Fi and access the router configuration page. If you are unsure how to do this, please consult the user guide for your router.
Step 6: Most routers provide a Quick Start Guide or Setup Wizard. Follow the steps provided, ensuring that your router is configured in WAN mode and encapsulation is set to PPPoE. Use the ISP username and password that TANGERINE has emailed and SMS'd to you. For specific setup information, consult your router's user guide or contact the manufacturer.
Step 7: After successfully configuring your BYO router, wait a couple of minutes for it to connect to the network. The authentication light on the router should become lit and steady. If unsure which light is the authentication light, consult your router's user guide.
If you encounter any issues, here are some troubleshooting steps:
- If the Optical light on the NBN box is red, please contact TANGERINE as they may need to log a fault with NBN.
- If the www or internet light on your router does not come on:
1. Ensure that the router is in PPPoE mode and correctly configured with the ISP username and password, checking for any spelling mistakes or typos.
2. Make sure you are connected to the correct Uni-D port on the NBN box.
3. Try using an alternative network cable to connect your router to the NBN box.
4. Verify that the router is configured in WAN mode.
