To connect your TANGERINE BYO Router to the HFC connection, please follow these steps:
1. Locate the NBN Connection Box that has been installed inside your property.
2. Ensure that the NBN Connection Box is connected to the cable wall socket using the white HFC cable. This should have been done during the NBN activation appointment.
3. Make sure that the NBN Connection Box is powered on and the POWER, DOWNSTREAM, UPSTREAM, and ONLINE lights are on.
4. Connect your router to the NBN Connection Box using a network cable. Plug one end of the cable into the WAN port on the back of the NBN Connection Box and the other end into the WAN port on your router.
5. Connect a computer or laptop to your BYO router either via a cable or through Wi-Fi. Access the router configuration page. If you're unsure how to do this, consult the router user guide.
6. Most routers provide a Quick Start Guide or Setup Wizard. Follow the steps provided, ensuring that your router is configured in WAN mode and the encapsulation is set to PPPoE. Leave all other settings as default. Configure your BYO router using the ISP username and password that were emailed and SMS'd to you. For specific setup information, consult your router user guide or contact the manufacturer.
7. After successfully configuring your BYO router, wait a couple of minutes for it to connect to the network. The authentication light on the router should become steady (not flashing). If you're unsure which light is the authentication light, refer to your router user guide.
If you encounter any issues, here are some troubleshooting steps:
- If the lights on the NBN Connection Box are not on, try turning off the power to the box for 10 seconds and then turning it back on. Wait for 10 minutes to see if the lights restore. If not, contact TANGERINE support as they may need to log a fault with NBN.
- If the router authentication light does not come on, ensure that the router is correctly configured with the ISP username and password. Check for any spelling mistakes or typos. Make sure you are connected to the WAN port on your router. Try using an alternative network cable to connect your router to the NBN box. Also, ensure that the router is configured in WAN mode.
If you require further assistance in setting up your BYO device, you can contact TANGERINE's technical support team through phone, WhatsApp, live chat, or email as provided in the user guide.
