To install the drill bit on the Makita 6407 corded drill, follow these steps:
1. For Model 6407: Place the drill bit in the chuck as far as it will go.
2. Tighten the chuck by hand.
3. Use the chuck key provided with the drill. Insert the chuck key into each of the three holes on the chuck and tighten clockwise. Be sure to tighten all three chuck holes evenly.
To remove the drill bit, follow these steps:
1. For Model 6407: Turn the chuck key counterclockwise in just one hole to loosen the chuck.
2. Loosen the chuck by hand.
3. After using the chuck key, be sure to return it to its original position.
It is important to note that for Model 6408, the chuck operates differently. The chuck has a sleeve and a ring. To install the drill bit, hold the ring and turn the sleeve counterclockwise to open the chuck jaws. Place the bit in the chuck and turn the sleeve clockwise to tighten the chuck. To remove the bit, hold the ring and turn the sleeve counterclockwise.
Please refer to the instruction manual for more detailed instructions and illustrations on how to install and remove the drill bit for your specific model.
