To install and wire the RKI Instruments 82-5221 Emergency Stop Device, follow the instructions provided in the user manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Mounting:
- Select a suitable mounting site that has an available AC power source, a vertical surface, enough room to open the housing door and make wiring connections, and is easily accessible in case of an emergency.
- Loosen the screws securing the mounting feet to the housing and rotate the feet to their mounting position.
- Position the 82-5221 on the vertical mounting surface and secure it using 3/16 in. screws through the mounting slots.
2. Factory Wiring:
- The factory wiring connections should not need adjustment.
3. Field Wiring:
- Turn off or unplug power to the 82-5221 and open the housing door.
- Power Wiring:
- Guide a 3-conductor cable or 3 wires in conduit through the conduit hub on the bottom of the housing.
- Connect one end of the three wires to the L, N, and ground terminals on the power supply.
- Connect the other end of the three wires to the line, neutral, and ground terminals on a 115 VAC power source.
- Solenoid Wiring:
- Guide a 2-conductor cable or 2 wires in conduit through the conduit hub on the bottom of the housing.
- Connect one end of the two wires to the "Solenoid Control" terminals on the Field Wiring Terminal Strip.
- Connect the other end of the wires to the + or line terminal on a 24 VDC or 115 VAC power source and to the solenoid valve's + or line input.
- For a DC-powered solenoid valve, connect the - terminal on the 24 VDC power source to the solenoid valve's - input.
- For an AC-powered solenoid valve, connect the N terminal on the 115 VAC power source to the solenoid valve's N input.
- Remote Relay Contact Wiring (optional):
- Remove the jumper from the Field Wiring Terminal Strip.
- Guide a 2-conductor cable or 2 wires in conduit through the conduit hub on the bottom of the housing.
- Connect the wires to the "To Alarm Contacts" terminals on the Field Wiring Terminal Strip.
- Guide the other end of the wires to the normally open remote relay contact.
- Connect the wires to the NO and C contacts on the relay that you want to use to control the solenoid valve.
- Close the housing door.
4. Start-Up:
- Ensure the emergency stop button is not pushed. If it is pushed, turn it clockwise to reset it.
- Turn on power to the 82-5221, power to the solenoid valve, and power to the device whose relay contact is wired to the 82-5221 (if used).
- Power will be immediately applied to the solenoid valve, and the green LED on the stack light will turn on.
