To enable the Fall Alert feature in the Starkey Fall Detection and Alerts App, you need to follow these steps:
1. Make sure that the Auto Alert and/or Manual Alert features have been enabled in your hearing aids by a hearing professional.
2. Download and open the Thrive Hearing Control app on your smartphone.
3. Sign in to your account if prompted.
4. Go to the app's Settings menu and select "Fall Alert."
5. Check if the Auto Alert and/or Manual Alert options are enabled. If not, contact your hearing professional to enable them.
6. Tap on "Begin Fall Alert Setup" to start the setup process.
7. Familiarize yourself with the preview alert indicators by tapping on each button to listen to them.
8. Enter your name as you want it to appear in the alert text message that will be sent to your contacts. You can review an example of the alert text message displayed on the screen.
9. Enter the names and smartphone phone numbers of up to three contacts who will receive the alert text messages.
10. Each contact must confirm their participation within 72 hours for the system to become active. They will receive a text message requesting their participation.
Once at least one contact has confirmed their participation, the Fall Alert feature will become active, and you can either automatically detect falls or initiate a Manual Alert if needed.
Please note that the Fall Alert feature is not a substitute for emergency services and does not communicate with emergency services or provide emergency assistance. It is designed to assist in communicating certain information to your designated contacts. Make sure to read the operations manual that comes with your hearing aid and the Thrive End User License Agreement for more information on the Fall Alert feature and its limitations.
