The Directed 607556UXL Universal Bypass is used when installing remote start products in vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a transponder chip embedded in the ignition key to transmit a low powered RF signal. The signal is picked up by an antenna around the ignition switch/key port and sent to the immobilizer's transceiver. If the correct signal is received, the immobilizer enables the ignition and/or fuel systems. If an invalid code is received, the ignition and/or fuel systems are disabled.
The 607556UXL bypasses the immobilizer system only while the remote start is in use, maintaining the factory system's integrity. When the remote start system is not in use, the factory immobilizer remains fully functional.
To install the 607556UXL, you will need to connect the various wires according to the instructions provided in the manual. This includes connecting the 12V constant, chassis ground, ignition input, status/GWR input, and keysense input wires. The manual provides detailed instructions and diagrams for both the standard immobilizer interface and alternate interface options.
It's important to note that the installation requires the use of one of the vehicle's coded keys, which must be permanently installed in the 607556UXL. Additionally, the installer should inform the customer that if they plan to have additional keys programmed to the vehicle's immobilizer system in the future, certain vehicle manufacturers may require reprogramming of all programmed keys, including the one installed in the 607556UXL.
