Descaling the Philips 3000 Series CE Steam Iron is an important maintenance task to ensure optimal performance and prolong the lifetime of the appliance. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to descale the iron:
1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of equal parts tap water and distilled or demineralized water. This will help prevent scale build-up.
2. Plug in the iron and set the steam control to the maximum position.
3. Allow the iron to heat up until the temperature light turns off, indicating that the iron is ready for use.
4. Place the iron on a heat-resistant surface and hold it in a horizontal position.
5. Press and hold the Calc-Clean button located on the side of the iron. The Calc-Clean light will start blinking to indicate that the descaling process has started.
6. Gently shake the iron back and forth to distribute the descaling solution inside the iron.
7. Steam and hot water will be expelled through the soleplate vents during the descaling process. Make sure to direct the steam and water into a sink or container.
8. Continue holding the Calc-Clean button until all the descaling solution has been expelled from the iron. This may take a few minutes.
9. Once the descaling process is complete, release the Calc-Clean button and unplug the iron.
10. Rinse the water tank thoroughly with tap water to remove any remaining descaling solution.
11. Refill the water tank with clean tap water and repeat the rinsing process.
12. Finally, plug in the iron and allow it to heat up to evaporate any remaining water in the iron.
Note: It is recommended to perform the Calc-Clean procedure every 1-2 months, depending on the water hardness in your area. For detailed instructions and safety precautions, please refer to the "Cleaning and maintenance" chapter in the user manual provided with the iron.
