To prepare and implant the ZEISS CT LUCIA Extensive Lens Portfolio, follow these steps:
1. Verify the lens is central and secure in the IOL (Intraocular Lens) chamber.
- Ensure that the lens is properly positioned in the chamber before proceeding.
2. Cover the whole lens and blue plunger tip with a generous amount of OVD (Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device).
- Apply a sufficient amount of OVD to cover the lens and blue plunger tip, taking care not to touch them directly.
3. Close the lid of the IOL chamber and allow the lens to remain in this position until the surgeon is ready to deliver it to the eye.
- Make sure the lid of the IOL chamber is securely closed, and keep the lens in place until it is ready for implantation.
4. Advance the lens to the intermediate position by gently pressing the plunger forward until an audible 'click' is heard.
- Gradually push the plunger forward until you hear a distinct clicking sound, indicating that the lens has reached the intermediate position.
IMPORTANT: The lens should be implanted immediately after reaching the intermediate position.
5. Slowly advance the lens until it is released from the injector. If delivery is incomplete, apply additional pressure to the thumb flange to release the lens.
- Push the plunger further to release the lens from the injector. If the delivery is not complete, exert additional pressure on the thumb flange to ensure the lens is fully released.
6. Carefully position the lens in the capsular bag.
- Manipulate the lens gently to position it accurately within the capsular bag.
7. Discard the delivery system and do not reuse it.
- After the lens has been successfully implanted, dispose of the delivery system properly. Do not attempt to reuse it.
