To adjust the torque setting on the SEALEY STW400 torque wrench, follow these steps:
1. Hold the torque wrench so that the required scale (foot-pounds or Newton-meters) is uppermost and visible.
2. Pull the collar downwards to adjust the torque setting.
3. Turn the adjusting grip to select the torque setting. For example, if you want to set the torque to 56 foot-pounds:
a. Turn the grip until the top edge of the grip is level with the 50 foot-pound line on the handle scale.
b. Align the zero graduation on the grip with the center line of the handle scale.
c. Rotate the handle further clockwise until the 6.0 graduation on the grip is aligned with the center line, giving a setting of 50 + 6 = 56 foot-pounds.
When tightening a nut or bolt, you will feel and hear the wrench mechanism click when the set torque is reached. Immediately stop applying force to the wrench to avoid overtightening. The wrench will reset and be ready for the next application.
Note: If the wrench has not been used for some time, operate it a few times at a low setting to ensure all internal parts are coated in grease.
