The installation instructions for the INTERMOTIVE B-ILISC516-C Shift Interlock system are provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the system:
1. Disconnect the vehicle battery before starting the installation.
2. Find a suitable location to mount the ILISC516-C module, away from high heat sources. Do not mount the module until all wire harnesses are routed and secure.
3. Locate the vehicle's Gateway Module and remove the harness behind it. Plug the Female side of the InterMotive Gateway Harness into the back of the Gateway module and secure the connection.
4. Plug the Male side of the InterMotive Data Link Harness into the Gateway harness. Secure the ILISC516-C Gateway harness so that it does not hang below the lower dash panel.
5. Plug the free end of the Data Link harness into the mating 4-pin connector on the ILISC516-C module.
6. Locate a suitable position on the dashboard to mount the LED Display Panel. Drill a 5/8" hole in the dash where the center of the display will be located. Attach the Black 4-pin connector of the LED display panel harness to the module and run the other end of the harness under the dash and out through the 5/8" hole. Attach the end to the LED Display Panel and ensure it is level and secure using supplied screws.
7. If you are working on a vehicle without rear or side door switches (cutaway chassis), install a door switch on the proper (lift) door and connect it to pin 8 (gray wire) of the 8-pin connector on the module. Ensure the door switch provides a ground level value when the door is open.
8. If the vehicle has OEM door switches, the module can read the door status over the vehicle communication network. However, if "Key OFF" operation is desired, a discrete Lift Door input must be made to the module. This is accomplished by connecting into the existing vehicle switch harness above and behind the driver's seat. Follow the instructions in the manual for the specific wire connections.
9. Connect the Shift Lock Input (optional) to a source that provides a High True level to enable shift lock upon closing the switch.
10. Connect the control inputs/outputs using the 8-pin connector. Follow the instructions in the manual for the specific wire connections.
11. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
12. Ensure all harnesses are properly connected and routed. With all connections made, turn the key to the RUN position. The display panel should prove out with all LEDs lit for about 2 seconds.
