To configure the Benthic sPAT within Tag Agent, follow these steps:
1. Connect the Benthic sPAT to your Windows computer using the Wildlife Computers USB communications cable.
2. Open the Tag Agent software on your computer.
3. Swipe a magnet near the communication port on the Benthic sPAT to establish a connection with Tag Agent. The tag LED will turn on and the Tag Agent home screen will appear.
4. On the Tag Agent home screen, click on the "Administer Tag" button in the upper grey menu.
5. A new window will open up with four sections: Tag Information, Tag Release Sequence, Data Product Settings, and Transmission Settings.
6. In the Tag Information section, you can view and modify individual tag details and Argos settings. The Tag Details tab displays information about the tag, such as tag administrators, tagware version, and tag type. The Argos Settings tab displays the tag PTT ID details.
7. In the Tag Release Sequence section, you can set the release sequence for the tag. You can choose between an interval release or a scheduled date release. The release will begin at 20:00 UTC after the specified number of days or on the chosen date.
8. In the Conditional Release section, you can program the tag to release and transmit earlier than the interval or scheduled date release, based on certain conditions. For example, the tag can initiate release if it detects itself floating at the surface.
9. In the Data Product Settings section, you can configure the Orientation Data Product. This includes settings for the knockdown detector and upright measurements.
10. In the Transmission Settings section, you can view the 90-second Argos transmission interval that the tag will attempt post-release. This value is unchangeable to the user.
11. Once you have made the desired changes to the tag settings, click the blue "Send Changes" button to load the settings into the tag. A pop-up box will confirm that the new settings were applied.
12. You can now disconnect the tag from Tag Agent by selecting the "Disconnect Tag" button in the top right menu bar. Choose the appropriate state or mode to disconnect the tag.
By following these steps, you can successfully configure the Benthic sPAT within Tag Agent software.
