To install the , follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the installation is done by a qualified person.
2. The pump is designed for "under deck" installations only.
3. Avoid excessive temperature, vibration, and fumes in the installation area, as they can reduce motor brush life.
4. Mount the pump on a sturdy surface to minimize noise transmission.
5. Avoid contact with water and excessive humidity.
6. Keep the cable and pipe work runs as short as possible.
7. Mount the unit horizontally, foot down, or vertically, tank down.
8. Use G1/4 (BSP) parallel threaded fittings for the 'A' and 'B' ports, and G3/8 (BSP) parallel threaded fittings for the 'R' port.
9. Seal the fittings with bonded rubber/metal washers. Do not use tapered adapters, sealing compound, or P.T.F.E tape.
10. Ensure that the pipe work and connections for the 'A' and 'B' ports are suitable for a minimum working pressure of 100 bar.
11. If using the 'R' port as a balance line, connect it through a continuous rise to the helm pump bottom connection.
12. If using pressurized reservoir type systems, ensure that the pipe is suitable for at least 7 bar.
13. Clean all pipes and fittings before connecting them to prevent dirt from entering the system.
14. Use good quality ISO VG10 to ISO VG42 hydraulic mineral oil as the hydraulic fluid. Check compatibility with the helm pump and ram manufacturers' specifications.
15. Connect the EMC filter and contactor as per the wiring details provided in the manual. Mount the EMC filter in a dry area not exposed to water.
16. Ensure correct polarity during electrical connections.
17. Fit a current limitation device.
18. Bleed the system according to the helm pump manufacturers' instructions.
19. Set the speed control to achieve the desired hard-over time (approximately 12 seconds). xxxx in to reduce speed.
20. The relief valve is pre-set at 58 Bar and should not be adjusted unless the steering gear is designed for a lower pressure.
Please refer to the instruction manual for more detailed installation instructions and safety precautions.
