To install the LSI DQL011.1 Ultrasonic Level Sensor, follow these steps:
1. Choose a site that is representative of the area you want to monitor. The site should be exposed to as little wind as possible and free of buildings, trees, boulders, fences, and other obstacles that could affect the measurements. The terrain should be flat or slightly sloping, and the site should be safe from possible avalanches.
2. Mount the sensor one meter above the maximum expected level and at least 3 meters above the ground. If you need to secure the monitoring site with a fence, make sure to leave enough distance between the fence and the sensor to avoid snow build-up or snow drift.
3. For the mechanical installation, refer to the documentation supplied with the sensor. It is recommended to use the DYA047 support on a mast with a diameter of 45-65 mm.
4. Make the electrical connections using the 8-pole male connector located on the side of the sensor. The connector pin numbering and function are as follows:
- Pin 1 (White): GND (Common analog output / Negative power supply)
- Pin 2 (Brown): V+ (Positive power supply, 9-28 Vdc)
- Pin 3 (Green): Trig (Positive serial reception input)
- Pin 4 (Yellow): RS-485 A (DATA+ RS-485 output)
- Pin 5 (Grey): RS-485 B (DATA- RS-485 output)
- Pin 6 (Pink): SDI-12 (SDI-12 output)
- Pin 7 (Blue): IOUT-2 (Positive analog output 2, air temperature)
- Pin 8 (Red): IOUT-1 (Positive analog output 1, level/distance)
5. If you are connecting the sensor to an LSI LASTEM data logger or other systems using the same type of inputs, refer to the documentation supplied with the sensor for the specific connection instructions.
Please note that these are general installation guidelines. For more detailed instructions and safety precautions, refer to the LSI DQL011.1 Ultrasonic Level Sensor User Manual.
