Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the CONNECTS2 CTKAU20/L Double DIN Installation Kit for Audi Vehicles:
1. Dash Disassembly:
- Use a panel removal tool to pry away and unclip the bottom HVAC panel. Disconnect the panel connectors and set them aside.
- Use the panel removal tool to unclip the air vent panel. Be careful around the key port area as it is fragile. Remove and store the panel.
- Unscrew the four bolts that hold the head unit in place. Remove the head unit while disconnecting all the wiring. If there are no bolts, use release keys to release the head unit.
2. Dash Modification:
- Cut the highlighted sections of the dashboard to allow the new head unit to fit correctly. Take measurements and perform the modifications carefully. It is recommended to seek professional help for this step.
3. Kit Assembly:
- Place the "airvent bracket" into the dashboard with the correct orientation. Attach the dual-sided foam mount to the back of the bracket and place it into the vehicle.
- Attach the new Double DIN brackets to the aftermarket head unit using the screws provided in the kit.
- Connect the 12-pin connector from the stereo connection (patch) lead to the interface box.
- Connect the opposite end of the stereo connection (patch) lead to the steering wheel control input on the back of the aftermarket stereo. Refer to the aftermarket stereo installation manual for specific instructions.
- Connect the 14-pin connector from the supplied wiring loom to the interface box.
- Connect the 4-pin camera extension harness to the interface box.
- Connect the power/speaker ISO connector to the corresponding power/speaker ISO connector at the rear of the aftermarket stereo.
- Connect the flying wires from the main wiring harness to the head unit. Refer to the "Additional Connections" section in the manual for more information.
- To retain an OEM camera, connect the yellow male RCA from the camera extension harness to the reverse camera input of the aftermarket head unit.
- To add an aftermarket reversing camera, connect the yellow female RCA from the camera extension harness to the male yellow RCA of the aftermarket camera.
- Connect the quadlock connector on the supplied harness to the quadlock connector from the vehicle.
- Test the stereo and steering wheel control functionality for correct operation. If the steering wheel controls are unresponsive, uninstall the interface and wiring and reinstall carefully following the above steps.
- Once testing is successful, install the aftermarket head unit into the dashboard using the pre-existing screws. Place the new fascia over the top and firmly press down around the edges to ensure it clips into place. Reassemble the dashboard in reverse order to complete the installation.
