To connect the Freedom LiTE Marine battery to your inverter or DC bus, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the main battery circuit breaker is switched off before connecting the positive and negative cables to the inverter terminals or DC busbar.
2. The battery cables are permanently fixed into the unit and secured onto the casing using compression cable glands. Attach crimp lugs to the ends of both cables, ensuring that the correct terminal size is used. The positive cable is red, and the negative cable is black.
3. Connect the positive and negative cables to the inverter terminals or DC busbar using the appropriate lugs.
4. If there are multiple inverters, alternators, or charge controllers that need to be connected to the battery, it is advisable to install a junction point from which to branch out to all the battery-connected equipment. In boats, these cables could typically be routed to DC busbars in the power distribution and control console.
Please refer to Table 2.1 in the manual for the cable size and quantity fitted to each Freedom LiTE Marine model. It is important to ensure that the cable runs are within 5m to minimize voltage drop. If the cable runs are longer than 5m, consider using larger cables or installing a junction point closer to the battery.
Note: Before connecting the positive and negative cables, make sure that the main battery circuit breaker is switched off to avoid any short circuits.
