To install the ZCG SG2400-8 WiFi 2.4 GHz High Gain Vehicle Spring Mount Antenna, follow these steps:
1. Select the mounting position: Typical mounting positions for this antenna are on your vehicle bull bar or guard, the boot of a sedan or truck mirror using the appropriate bracket with a minimum 16 mm diameter hole. The antenna can also be mounted in other locations. Important considerations for selecting the mounting point include:
- Mount the antenna as high as possible.
- Mount the antenna as far away from other antennas and metallic objects as possible to avoid interference and distortion of the omnidirectional pattern. At least 350mm side clearance is desirable.
- Mount the antenna vertically, not at an angle.
2. Prepare the installation tools: You will need a 16mm drill bit for the mounting hole of the spring base (if required), a 22mm spanner for base securing, cable ties for securing the coaxial cable route, small cutters for removing excess cable ties, amalgamation tape and PVC tape for sealing the connector.
3. Remove the nut and washer: Remove the nut and washer from the threaded base and slip them off over the cable.
4. Pass the cable through the mounting bracket or hole: Pass the cable through the hole of your mounting bracket or mounting hole.
5. Thread the washer and nut back onto the cable: Thread the washer and then the nut back up the cable and onto the threaded base. From underneath, tighten the nut to secure the antenna firmly to the bracket.
6. Leave slack in the cable: Leave some slack in the cable at the point where it exits through the spring base. This allows the antenna to flex during travel.
7. Route the cable carefully: Route the MIL-SPEC RG58 low-loss stranded cable carefully, avoiding high-heat areas or electrical interference areas. Ensure that the cable is not stretched excessively and there are no sharp kinks. Use cable ties to secure the cable, but do not pull them too tight as it may damage the cable.
8. Connect the connector to your device: Connect the connector to your device. The maximum input power is 30 Watts.
9. Complete the installation: Once the connector is connected, the installation is complete. You may choose to cut the cable shorter, but if you do, a new connector will need to be fitted using the proper tools. If the reverse gender SMA male connector fitted to the cable does not suit your installation, you can fit any other connector suitable for the RG58 cable. Alternatively, ZCG can supply a suitable adapter or patch lead.
